Number Recall

Memorize a series of digits, then enter them back as seen, reversed, or sorted.

How to play

Digits flash on screen one at a time. Once they stop, you'll be asked to type them back — either in the order shown, in reverse, or sorted from lowest to highest.

  • Watch the mode shown before memorizing — it tells you how you'll need to answer.
  • Digits appear one at a time, then disappear before you can respond.
  • Choose your difficulty before starting — higher difficulty means more digits shown faster.
  • Enter your answer using the on-screen keypad.

Why this matters

Recalling digits forward, backward, and sorted are three separate item types on the WAIS's Working Memory Index — the reverse and sorted modes in particular require manipulating information in mind rather than just storing it, which is what separates working memory from simple short-term memory.
